about me
Hello, I’m John Kerner. I founded D7 Advisers to bring together a blend of business and military planning skills focussed on helping SME private, public and not-for-profit organisations make better quality decisions for a more sustainable future.
My knowledge, skills and expertise are forged over 30-years of experience and professional development across Defence, Transport, Logistics and Highways sectors at UK strategic and operational levels. Initially in the UK Armed Forces as senior officer and more recently as senior leader in a national company, with start-ups and serving on a charity board. Get to know me and you'll discover I'm professionally curious, open-minded, highly collaborative and very people orientated.
I’m a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and member of the Corporate Governance Institute, Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Chapter Zero and The Leaders Club.
I'm also a professionally certified Company Director, formally trained Non-Executive Director, member of the Non-Executive Directors Association and an Institute of Directors (IoD) Ambassador for ED&I.
My Why?
In a nutshell, I’m passionate about creating the future with care.
For me, this means helping others make better quality decisions and reducing the impact that poor decisions have on people, the planet and financial prosperity.
Much of what I do focusses on creating value and delivering benefit through integrated Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG). Most enterprises in the UK aren't subject to ESG regulation, so many have yet to understand where the opportunities are and how to unlock them.
What I Do
I place the 7-duties of a company director (D7) at the heart helping owners, boards, programmes and projects overcome their challenges, improve performance, avoid crisis, navigate distress and grow value.
As a portfolio professional, I tailor my services, engagement models and working patterns to suit the needs of my clients. I also work with not-for-profits, charities and other socially focussed organisations.
